We did it! Survived another month and year. Top Ten Tuesday: Most Recent Additions to My Shelves

Image
Top Ten Tuesday was created by  The Broke and the Bookish  in June of 2010 and was moved to  That Artsy Reader Girl  in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. December 30th:  Most Recent Additions to My Shelves Tough Guy, Common Goal and Role Model are all books that I have already read - I just wanted to finally get a copy for my shelves.  Have you read any of these? Let me know in the comments.

Review: Bitter Heat by Leta Blake

Image
Rating: 3.5 Stars My thoughts: Leta Blake is amazing at creating characters. They write characters that have so much depth that even when they aren't the best of people, I am still rooting for them to redeem themselves and find happiness. Bitter Heat is book three in her Heat of Love series, and I do think reading the series in order is the best as you get more of a background on Janus. As it is the 3rd book in the series, I loved when Caleb from Book 2 popped up, he meant the world to me in that book, and it was so lovely to see him happy with his life. Janus is not the best of characters in Alpha Heat so I went into this feeling apprehensive about him, but Leta quickly showed me that I had nothing to worry about. Kerry stole my heart from the beginning - his need to rise up financially lead him to a less-than-ideal Alpha and he's found himself trapped in a terrible situation. I spent the entire book wanting him to allow himself to be happy.    Synopsis : Kerry Monkbur...

Sunday #22

Image
The Sunday Post is a blog news meme hosted by  Caffeinated Reviewer . It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on your blog for the week ahead. Join in weekly, bi-weekly or for a monthly wrap up. The Sunday Salon (hosted by  ReaderBuzz ) is a place to link up and share what we have been doing during the week. It's a great opportunity to visit other blogs and join in the conversations going on there.  What I Did: Outside of holiday things, I did not do much this week. Wednesday (Christmas Eve), I went to my cousins and had dinner with family - it's always hectic but very nice to see them all. I then went and spent some time with a friend that was in town, she lives two hours away so I don't get to see her as much as I would like to, so it was lovely to sit a chat with her for a few hours. Thursday/Christmas Day, my little brother came over to my place an...

Let's Talk Bookish: Deciding Yearly Reading Goals

Image
Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly (Friday) meme originally created by Ruk ky @ Et ernity Books  and co-hosted by  Aria @  Book Nook  Bits  and  Dini  @dinipandareads ! I n this bookish discussion meme, bloggers get to discuss certain topics, share opinions, and spread love by visiting each other’s posts. December 26: How do you decide your yearly reading goals? ( Jillian @ Jillian the Bookish Butterfly ) Prompts:   Do you set annual reading and/or blogging goals? Have you decided on any bookish/blogging resolutions for 2026? How do you decide what goals you want to pursue for the year ahead? I love setting reading goals! It's honestly the only goal in life that I set and stick to on a regular basis. Resolutions I set even less than I do goals but in 2026, I am going to make a point of requesting less ARCs - I got a little carried away in 2025 and would often feel overwhelmed by how many reviews I had due which took away the fun of ARCs. As far as my ...

Down The TBR Hole #21

Image
Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by  Lost in a Story , but she has permitted  I’m Into Books  to adopt it since she is no longer blogging. I always see  Confessions of a YA Reader  do this and I have been wanting to give it a shot myself as my Goodreads to-read shelf has  647 books  on it - we are on page 6 of the list now so we are making progress. I like to go with 10 books. It works like this: Go to your goodreads to-read shelf. Order on ascending date added. Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time. Read the synopses of the books Decide: keep it or should it go This Weeks Books: Don't Let the Forest In by C.G. Drews Under The Lupine Moon by A. Knightley How to Bare Your Neck and Save a Wreck by D.N. Bryn (removing this one because it's book 3 in a series and I haven't read book 2) The Neighbor Favor by Kristina Forest The ...

ARC Review: Fallen by Ashley Warren

Image
My Rating: 3 Stars Thank you to Luna Literary for an ARC of this book!  I don't read many Mafia books so this was a lot of fun for me. I liked how obsessed Enzo was and with how far he decided to go to get Zara back. I also really liked the power that Enzo had and that he had Zara's back in what she needed to do to move on. In general, Zara is such a badass and is a very strong FMC. My biggest dislike in this book was the lack of buildup in the relationship between Zara and Enzo. They had an amazing night together (my favorite part of the book honestly) and then didn't see each other for 2 years. When they meet again, Zara is forced into a marriage with him and then she very quickly falls for him. I get that they clicked but I would have loved for there to be more of them getting to know each other before declaring that they were in love.  Synopsis : When Zara Kavanagh and Enzo Marchetti shared one reckless, unforgettable night two years ago, they never imagined it woul...

Review: The Heartbreak Hotel by Ellen O'Clover

Image
Rating: 4 Stars I loved this book.  The Heartbreak Hotel follows Louisa as her long-term boyfriend breaks up with her and in a desperate bid to afford to stay in the best home she's ever had, she turns to her landlord - a grumpy vet named Henry - and persuades him to allow her to turn the large house into a bed and breakfast. One that she markets as a retreat for the broken hearted.  I loved the characters - from Lou to Henry to the cast of background characters that stayed at the bed and breakfast. They all held so much depth, and it was a delight to read all of their different problems and the way that they were going through healing. I liked that the heart break portrayed wasn't just from a romantic relationship ending, it also came from death.  There were a couple things that kept me from giving this 5 stars and most of it was the third act drama. I normally am okay with third act drama, but I just was not a fan of the way Lou reacted a couple of things and how the bo...

It's a great opportunity to visit other blogs and join in the conversations going on there.  What I Did: Another very chilly week until Thursday when the temps reached the 40's. Monday through Wednesday were quiet for me, work, eat, sleep and repeat. Thursday, I worked a half day and I took advantage of that - I got a haircut (my first one in years!) and took my weekly trip to the library before settling in for an evening of drafting blog posts. Saturday, I worked and then unhauled some books at my local used bookstore. Sunday, I am going to get so...

HoHoHoReadathon Wrap Up!

Image
The 13th Annual Ho-Ho-Ho Readathon is a holiday readathon hosted by  Caffeinated Reviewer . This year’s event will take place on Wednesday, November 26th through Wednesday, December 17th, 2025. During the event, participants will read or listen to as many holiday or winter reads as they can while taking part in challenges. Get your holiday & winter setting books and be prepared to have fun! Audiobooks, library books, ebooks, old books or new books — we don’t care. Don’t forget the hot chocolate! I did one recap already but I wanted to do a final recap of what I read and how much of it was off of my original TBR.  My original Readathon TBR had 11 books on it and I managed to read 5.5 of them during the time of the readathon which is honestly pretty good for me - I am a big mood reader so it's hard for me to stick to one TBR or to plan out what I am going to read. This was also my first time participating in a readathon so it was tough for me to know how much I was goin...

WWW Wednesday #2

Image
Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived on  Taking on a World of Words . For WWW Wednesday, you just answer the three questions below. The Three Ws are: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? Currently Reading: It's been a slow reading week for me. I am currently about 20% of the way into The Nightmare Before Kissmas and about 60% of the way into Fallen by Ashley Warren.  Recently Finished Reading: Recently treated myself to a reread of The Long Game by Rachel Reid. I also read My Orc (Fake) Boyfriend by Veronika Kane.  Reading Next: I'm a mood reader so it's hard for me decide a head of time what I'm going to read next but I know Hawk is an ARC that the review is due on soon.
