Let's Talk Bookish: Deciding Yearly Reading Goals

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly (Friday) meme originally created by Rukky @Eternity Books and co-hosted by Aria @ Book Nook Bits and Dini @dinipandareads! In this bookish discussion meme, bloggers get to discuss certain topics, share opinions, and spread love by visiting each other’s posts.

Prompts: Do you set annual reading and/or blogging goals? Have you decided on any bookish/blogging resolutions for 2026? How do you decide what goals you want to pursue for the year ahead?

I love setting reading goals! It's honestly the only goal in life that I set and stick to on a regular basis. Resolutions I set even less than I do goals but in 2026, I am going to make a point of requesting less ARCs - I got a little carried away in 2025 and would often feel overwhelmed by how many reviews I had due which took away the fun of ARCs. As far as my annual reading goal, I use math to set my goal. I find the average of what I read each month for the year that we are in and then I round that number down to the nearest 5 and times that by 12 and use that as my starting goal for the year. I look at my goal as something that I can always bump up if needed and I want to go into it with no pressure on it and that is why I round down. Looking at this year right now, I have read 208 books which is 17.3 books a month and when I round that down to 15 books a month, we get 180 books as the goal for the year.
