Tell Me Something Tuesday & Top Ten Tuesday: Underrated Authors

That's What I'm Talking About's Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post where bloggers discuss a wide range of topics from books and blogging to life in general.

December 2nd: Underrated Books & Authors

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

December 2nd: Freebie

I decided to mix Tell Me Something Tuesday and Top Ten Tuesday and create a list of 10 underrated authors. I thought it would be a hard list to make but I read a lot of indie authors and I always feel like indie authors are super underrated. I tried to stick with authors who didn't have any books with more than 5,000 ratings on Goodreads but a couple with more than 5,000 but less than 10,000 might have snuck in.
Have you read any of these authors? Let me know in the comments.

1. Eleri Drake.
Eleri Drake is a pen name for Heather McCollum who writes historical romance and her Eleri Drake books are historical fantasy with time travel. I read Prophecy this year and gave it 4.5 stars - it's honestly a crime that only 20 people have rated this on Goodreads. I am excited to get to the other books in the series.
Check out my review of Prophecy here.

2. Lyonne Riley.
Maybe it's the monster lover in me but I love Lynonne Riley's books. They are so fun and the characters are all so diverse.
Check out my review of her most recent release, Longing for the Minotaur here.

3. J.L. Hyde.
I might be biased on this one because the author is from my home state and most of her books appear to be set in said state but I thought her Grady Lake Mystery series was interesting and I look forward to check out more of her thrillers.

4. Cleo White.
I have gotten really into age gap romances and Cleo White nails it every time.

5. Leta Blake
Leta writes MM and their characters have so much depth.

6. Sophie Snow.
Another author that writes primarily age gap but I love all of her characters.

7. Sloan Spencer
Sloan's characters are so diverse and I am obsessed with all of them.

8. Meghan Hollie
I have only read one Meghan Hollie but it was easily my favorite ARC of the 30+ I read this year. I can't wait to check out more of her work.

9. M.A. Grant
MA Grant writes MM fantasy / urban fantasy and I love the worlds that she has created.

10. Kait Ballenger
Kait's Cowboy Shifters series is *chef's kiss*
