Book Review: Prophecy by Eleri Drake
Have you ever read a tagline for a book and knew immediately that you needed to read it? That was me with this book. "She can read everyone's mind but his." I am sold.
The start of this book introduces a mother that is desperate to send her daughters through time to protect them and she sends each of them with one of her powers. Serena is our FMC. She got her mother's ability to read minds and she has been living with a traveling group of people. One night while she was dancing, she comes across a man whose mind she gets nothing from. A series of events leads to them working together to clear her adoptive brothers name as it becomes obvious to him that she is the woman mentioned in a prophecy that has been passed down through his family.
Overall, I really enjoyed this. I liked the writing, the characters and the magic. The tension was amazing - he wants to deny the attraction between them due to the prophecy that he truly believes in and it makes for so many good moments. There is a part of the overarching plot line of the series that I did/do not enjoy that honestly kept me from giving this five stars - it involves a character that manipulates things quite a bit for the overarching series plot and I just wish she had just let them work on things on their own, I feel like knowing how much she had orchestrated took away from the love story. I am looking forward to more of the series and getting to read as the rest of the sisters find their true mates.
