Top Ten Tuesday: Books I HAD to Have Immediately but Still Haven’t Read

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

July 28: Books I HAD to Have Immediately but Still Haven’t Read

My physical TBR - books that I own and still haven't read - is over 200 books so making this list was tough. I used Goodreads and my memory to go with books that I have owned the longest. May not be 100% accurate as I am sure some of these have been on my to read shelf longer than I have owned them.

  1. A Promised Land by Barack Obama
  2. For Your Own Good by Samantha Downing
  3. Husband Material by Alexis Hall
  4. Love, Magic & Misfortune by Carla Nikole
  5. This Woven Kingdom by Tahereh Mafi
  6. Happy Place by Emily Henry
  7. They Drown Our Daughters by Katrina Monroe
  8. Lute by Jennifer Thorne
  9. Ace by Angela Chen
  10. Redemptor by Jordan Ifueko

  2. I've enjoyed many of Emily Henry's books and I've been really getting into memoirs lately so the Barack Obama book looks good too. I hope you enjoy all of these!

  3. This Woven Kingdom is still on my TBR as well but I remember being so excited that I got my hands on a copy. I also still need to read Obama's book, but thankfully my dad is the owner of that copy and not me (so I feel slightly less guilty about not reading it yet)! 🤣

  6. I haven't read any of these, Emily Henry is hit or miss for me so I am very cautious around her books.

  8. I'm not sure I own 200 books let alone 200 I haven't read!! I'm part jealous and part relieved because I think owning that many unread books would stress me out 😂 The 20 unread books I own stress me out enough! Good luck with your TBR! I hope you enjoy all these if you ever get to them!

    1. I like to say that book reading and book buying are too separate hobbies lol

  9. I have read A Promised Land. It's very interesting and very personable because Obama has a great manner to him but it's also very heavy on policy and I'm not American, so I did get bogged down in that. I also got the audio after I read it in print, which I haven't finished because it's like, a million hours, but I do like listening to him talk. Husband Material was really disappointing to me after Boyfriend Material, which I loved. I just bought Father Material, I hope I like it more. I also really like Happy Place.
