September 19: Favourite Genre Recommendations
Prompts: What is your favourite genre(s) and what makes it your favourite? If someone wanted to try your favourite genre(s), what are five books that you would recommend to them and why those books specifically? Has your favorite genre changed over time?

I am probably about to sound really basic, but Romance is my favorite genre. I love when I pick up a romance novel, I know that it's going to be a happy ending. I love reading the characters finding themselves and each other. I often end up kicking my feet and grinning at the pages as the characters finally kiss or as they have fun banter.

Picking just 5 was very tough but these are the books that I would recommend if you wanted to find an easily loveable romance. Across all of these books, I love the characters, they all have depth, and I found them all to be relatable. They don't just fall in love with another person, they also either begin to love themselves or they find themselves in ways that they haven't before.

As far as things change over time, from 2021 to the present 2025, Romance has been my top read genre. In 2020, my most read Genre was Young Adult and it makes sense that I reached a point where Young Adult was no longer my most read as I am now almost 30 and while I will always love YA, it just doesn't hit the same for me anymore. Fantasy is always going to be my second favorite genre and I personally love how popular Romantasy has become as a genre because we deserve fantasy novels that involve falling in love too. I want the woman to slay dragons and find themselves a partner.

  1. There's absolutely nothing basic with having romance as your favourite genre! It's one of mine as well :) I do love knowing that the characters are gonna get their HEA, even if sometimes they really have to work to get there, lol. The Charmed Offensive was great, and I absolutely adored The Seven Year Slip and Josh + Hazel are one of my OG OTPs! 💜 Thanks for joining LTB this week!

  2. I love romances too, but I'm finding it harder to find good ones with HEAs! I need the HEAs!! I'm so glad to see you've got The Seven Year Slip here though, it's high on my TBR and I should probably try to get to it soon!
