September 5: In Which Season Do You Do Your Best Reading? (Jillian @ Jillian the Bookish Butterfly)
Prompt: Is there a month, quarter or other specific time of year when you do your most reading and why do you think that is? Does this tend to fluctuate every year or is your reading pretty ‘steady’?
When I read this question, my first thought was that I do my most reading in the wintertime. My mental health is not the best in the winter so I tend to read a lot to distract myself and because when it's cold and snowy, I don't want to be out due other things but because of who I am as a person, I have years' worth of data that tells me exactly what my reading looks like over time. The numbers say that my first thought was wrong. The last couple of years, I haven't been fluctuating as much but I typically do my best/most reading in the summertime! If I had to come up with a reason on why this might be I would say it's because the days are longer and I have more energy
I will say that I do my 'favorite' reading in the fall. I let myself focus on witchy, magical and thrilling reads and I always have the best time doing it.
Wow, that's amazing. I'm not this keen to track my reading so I don't know when's my best book season.
ReplyDeleteI also do more reading during the wintertime relative to summer. During the summer I garden a lot, so that takes some time away from reading, but sometimes I listen to audiobooks at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI find that during the summer I tend to plan a lot of reading, but then I don't do as much because of travel, hanging out with neighbors, and watching TV with my daughter. That said, I just looked at my numbers for 2025 and my top months are January and August!
