Top Ten Tuesday: Set in Michigan
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
July 22: Books Set In Michigan
The moment I read the prompt, I knew that I was going to pick Michigan. I was born and raised in Michigan and while I know it isn't perfect, I love my state a lot. Some of these are set in real Michigan towns and some are fictional.
Have you read any of these? Do you know of any Michigan fiction novels that I missed? Let me know in the comments below.
Michigan is a cool setting!
ReplyDeleteOMG... How did we not discuss this last February? I was also born and raised in MI until I was 23. We shall compare notes!! I LOVED Funny Story and it really captures the feeling of being "Up North." Ii also love the Starfall Point series by Molly Harper on a fictional/magical island like Mackinac.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe we didn't talk about this in February! I need to know more - where at in Michigan? I am in the Great Lakes Bay region. I am going to have to check out the Starfall Point series.
DeleteYes, we shall discuss this coming February. I grew up near Flint and went to school at UM. My folks now live "Up North," and we go back every summer.
DeleteI haven't read any of these, but I do have the Emily Henry books on my TBR.
ReplyDeleteI've read both of the Emily Henry books. The other author I have read who sets some/most of their books in Michigan is Viola Shipman
ReplyDeleteI am gonna have to check Viola Shipman out!
DeleteGreat list! The only one I’ve read is Funny Story, and I really enjoyed it. Happy Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteOoohh, I had forgotten about Lauren Beukes. I read The Shining Girls a while ago and it was brilliant! I meant to read of the author but haven't gotten around to it. I might start with this one next!
ReplyDeleteI am currently reading Lauren's book Afterland and I can't wait to check out more of her books.
DeleteI've read Beach Read from your list but that's all. I'm waiting for another Emily Henry book from the library. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun looking list. I did a Michigan list a couple of years ago, and only have one book from your list on there. Here's my list if you want to check it out: https://readbakecreate.com/visit-michigan-in-ten-books/
ReplyDeleteI love that you did a Michigan list once too!
DeleteI love finding books set in the midwest!
