Top Ten Tuesday: Set in Michigan

July 22: Books Set In Michigan

The moment I read the prompt, I knew that I was going to pick Michigan. I was born and raised in Michigan and while I know it isn't perfect, I love my state a lot. Some of these are set in real Michigan towns and some are fictional.

    OMG... How did we not discuss this last February? I was also born and raised in MI until I was 23. We shall compare notes!! I LOVED Funny Story and it really captures the feeling of being "Up North." Ii also love the Starfall Point series by Molly Harper on a fictional/magical island like Mackinac.

      I can't believe we didn't talk about this in February! I need to know more - where at in Michigan? I am in the Great Lakes Bay region. I am going to have to check out the Starfall Point series.

      Yes, we shall discuss this coming February. I grew up near Flint and went to school at UM. My folks now live "Up North," and we go back every summer.

    I've read both of the Emily Henry books. The other author I have read who sets some/most of their books in Michigan is Viola Shipman

    Ooohh, I had forgotten about Lauren Beukes. I read The Shining Girls a while ago and it was brilliant! I meant to read of the author but haven't gotten around to it. I might start with this one next!

December 2nd: Freebie I decided to mix Tell Me Something Tuesday and Top Ten Tuesday and create a list of 10 underrated authors. I thought it would be a hard list to make but I read a lot of indie authors and I always feel like indie authors are super underrated. I tried to stick with authors who didn't have any books with more than 5,000 ratings on Goodreads but a couple with more than 5,000 but less than 10,000 might have snuck in.
