Reading Recap: April 2025

When I read 19 books in March, I had the thought of "This will be the month I read the most this year" but I was wrong because I read 21 books in April. One short of my best month ever of 22 which happened back in 2022. Here is a quick recap of all 19 books, the good, the bad and the okay.

1. Little Slice of Hell by Clio Evans. 3 ★ Not my favorite Clio Evans read but this novella delivers what I now expect from Clio Evans which is good smut. I think the creature cafe series is just not for me in general, it's very instalove which I normally love when fated mates come in to play but this series just doesn't build on that at all.

2. The Wingman by Stephanie Archer. 3 My most anticipated in this series ended up being my least favorite so far. I do look forward to the next one though. My thoughts on all three books in the series can be found here

3. The Baker & the Bard by Fern Haught. 3.5 I have been on a graphic novel kick lately and this did not disappoint. Everything about it is lovely from the characters to the art style and the way it's colored to the storyline.

4. The Tea Dragon Society by K. O'Neill. 4This is so cute!!!!

5.Twins for the Rebel Cowboy by Sasha Summers. 3 The author said Dean Winchester inspired the titular rebel cowboy and I said sign me up. My full thoughts on the novel can be found here

6. Wild Side by Elsie Silver. 3.5 I am sad to be caught up on all of Elsie Silver's books, I liked this one more than Wild Love by less than Wild Eyes.

7. Mille, Be Mine by Courney Corlew. 3★ A huge thank you to Courtney for allowing me to read an arc of this one. My review can be found here

8. Below Zero by Ali Hazelwood. 3.25 Second time this month where the book in the series that I am most excited about ended up being my least favorite.

9. A Sea of Unspoken Things by Adrienne Young 4. I don't know what it is about Adrienne Young's writing but it always grabs me and pulls me under. The twist at the end of this one actually made my jaw drop.

10. Role Playing by Cathy Yardley. 3 This book actually made me mad. I have never wanted to fist fight a fictional characters family more than I did when I was reading this. The MMCs family sucks. The best part is a 50 year old man finding out about asexuality & demisexuality and finally knowing that there isn't anything wrong with him.

11. Mesmerized by the Mothwoman. 3A monster romance where the FMC is the monster and the MMC is just a regular dude, I'm sold. He is covered in tattoos and has one of the type of moth that she is from long before they meet, had me kicking my feet in the air at the idea of fate.

12. Snapdragon by Sofia Rose. 3 Another monster novella, he's a dragon shifter and they are both musicians trying to make it big. It was cute but even as a novella, it started to drag on.

13. Dear Wendy by Ann Zhao. 4★ This one had me in my feels and is my favorite read for April.

14. Enchanting the Ogre's Heart by Lyonne Riley. 3What could have been another instalove monster romance became something more when the human let her common sense stop her from jumping into his arms and later, she had to work for it a bit before he let her back in.

15. The Color of Always: An LGBTQIA+ Love Anthology. 3This is a fun graphic novel with short love stories of all kinds, it was fun to see the different types of queer love and to see the different art styles.

16. A Gentleman's Gentleman by TJ Alexander. 4★ A fast paced queer regency romance.

17. Alive and Wells by Bailey Hannah. 4 Reading this in one day was not my intention but once I got stared I could not put it down.

18. Fence Vol 1 by C.S. Pacat. 3.5 I should have checked out more than just Vol 1 from the library.

19. Flirting Lessons by Jasmine Guillory. 3 I have been meaning to check out this author for a while so naturally, I started with her queer novel. I just wish that it had been shorter

20. Taming the Heart by Elliott Rose. 3.5 Thank you to Luna Literary Management and Elliot Rose for letting me be a part of the ARC team. My review can be found here.

21. Fight by Sloane St. James. 3.5Another book that I flew through. I hated the miscommunication (which doesn't feel like the right word to use because it's actually no communication since the MMC hears a rumor and just straight up stops speaking to the FMC)

  1. Great job! I haven't done my post for April yet, but I think I did well for me (I tend to read 8-10 books/month).
