Reading Recommendations: Vampires

I have a long history of liking books with vampires - so much so that my older brothers nickname for me when I was in middle school was "Vampire Girl." Here are my favorite vampire reads and a few that I have been meaning to check out. If you have any favorite vampire books that you think I should check out, let me know in the comments. I left out some mainstream ones like the Twilight Saga, the Vampire Academy series and the Simon Snow books.

🩸My favorites:

  • The Lore & Lust series by Karla Nikole | MM | I love this author and the vampire world she has created. The Lore & Lust series has 3 novels and 1 novella, and I have read them all multiple times. Nico, the love interest for the first 2 books, is one of my all-time favorite fictional characters. Karla's vampires are fun because they do not drink the blood of humans, prolonged time with human blood as their primary feeding source weakens them.
  • The Vampires of Eden series by Karla Nikole | MM | set in the same world as Lore & Lust, we meet a whole new set of vampires and the yearning in the first book is AMAZING. You may also find my name listed in the acknowledgements in the back as I supported the author on Pateron while she was writing it.
  • Blood & Ash series and Flesh & Fire series by Jennifer L Armentrout | FM | I love the world that JLA has created, and I am 2 books behind on them because I don't want to wrap up the Flesh & Fire series, I highly recommend reading them in publication order to get the full story the best way.
  • King of Battle and Blood by Scarlett St. Clair | FM | I still need to read the second book, but I really enjoyed this one
  • Court of the Vampire Queen by Katee Robert | MMFM | I am terrible at remembering the order that the letters go in for these cases, but this book is Poly - the men are in love with each other and with her, the swords do cross as I often see used. This book is three separate novellas that have been combined into one and it is noticeable within the writing, but it was still a very enjoyable read - How can you not love vampire books where the bitten person feels pleasure from the bite?
  • Vampire's Mate series by Grae Bryan | MM | another one where I haven't completed the series, but I like Grae's Vampires quite a lot and really need to pick up the next books

🩸Not my favorites but still good reads:

  • Black Sunshine by Karina Halle | FM | a woman discovering the world of vampires as she comes into adulthood slaps every time
  • Bite Me! You Know I Like It by Fae Quin | MM | this is a fun read and Fae's writing has only gotten better since she published it
  • Bride by Ali Hazelwood | FM | 2009 is calling, it wants its book back. Jokes aside, I did enjoy this one.
  • King of Hollywood by Fae Quin | MM | another fun read from Fae
  • Little Drop of Blood by Clio Evans | MM | one of the smuttier reads on the list
  • How to Bite Your Neighbor and Win a Wager by D.N. Bryn | MM | Vincent, the Neighbor Biter in question, is a mess and I love him

🩸My TBR:

  • My Roommate Is A Vampire by Jenna Levine | FM |
  • Filthy Rich Vampire by Geneva Lee | FM | Filthy & Rich are two ways that I like my vampires
  • Blood Moon by Jillian Graves | FM |
  • Not Another Vampire Book by Cassandra Gannon | FM | 'Not Another Vampire Book' is a direct quote from my older brother when I got back from the library while in middle school
  • Punished by the Vampire King by Darcy Fayton | MM |
  • Vampires Don't Play Hockey by AL Heard | MM | Vampires and Hockey, this author is after my heart
  • Victory for Vampires by Hazel Mack | MFM |
  • Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by VE Schwab | FF | one of my most anticipated releases of the year. That full list can be found here.
  • Cowboys & Vampires by Hank Edwards | MM | More of my favorite things being combined.
