Reading Recommendations: Cowboy / Small Town Romance

Back in April of 2024, Elsie Silver sent me down a rabbit hole of Cowboy romances. Since then I have seen debates on whether they all actually count as Cowboys but I am not here for that. The following list has books where the (or at least one) MMC works on a ranch or farm and is not afraid to get his hands dirty. If you have any Cowboy romances that aren't on this list, please drop them in the comments for me. 

Note: I have read all of Elsie Silvers book with the exception of Wild Side as it just came out last week. I did only include my favorites on this list so the list would be more than just her.

Flawless by Elsie Silver | MF | He is a rodeo cowboy and she is his agent's daugther who gets put in charge of keeping him in line

Reckless by Elsie Silver | MF | Another rodeo cowboy, she is a doctor, accidental pregnancy is the big plot line

Heartless by Elsie Silver | MF | He runs the family ranch and is a single dad, she is the nanny he hires for the summer

Wild Eyes by Elsie Silver | MF | He trains horses, she is a country music star that needs to get away from the spotlight, he is a single dad

Sunlight by Deveny Perry | MF | she is a manager at the inn on his family's ranch, he is one of the owners and does a lot with horses, accidental pregnancy is the big plotline

Alive and Wells by Bailey Hannah | MF | she is on the run from her abusive husband; he is the owner of the ranch she shows up on. I read this in one sitting and loved it. Austin Wells is an A+ book boyfriend.

The Foreman and the Drifter by Jackie North | MM | One MMC is the foreman of ranch that gives guests the chance to do things like they did back in the day, the other is a drifter looking for a purpose with life. 

Done and Dusted by Lyla Sage | MF | he works on her family's ranch, she was a rodeo cowgirl but is having trouble getting back on a horse after an accident, ADHD rep

Cowboy Wolf Trouble by Kait Ballenger | MF | he is a cowboy that works on a huge ranch and does a lot with wild horses AND he is a wolf shifter; she runs a ranch of her own

Love Unbound by Danielle Baker | MF | age gap, he works on her family ranch, leaves for 10 years and then comes back

Broken Beginnings by Clio Evans | MF | small town, he works on his family ranch, he was her bully in high school, she left town after high school but is back years later and he's had therapy and knows he was the problem

There's a Monster in the Woods by Fae Quin | MM | a small-town loner farmer falls for the actual monster that lives in the woods

Twins for the Rebel Cowboy by Sasha Summers | MF | I was at Coastal Magic Convention 2025 and in a panel, Sasha Summers said that the rebel cowboy was inspired by Dean Winchester so naturally, I immediately added it to my TBR.

I am a big mood reader, and my mood is always changing so I typically don't follow any kind of schedule for reading - I just kind of look around at what I own and grab what sounds best. My library holds usually end up choosing for me as once I get a book up from the library, I usually want to jump right into it. I have gotten super into applying for and reading ARCs lately so deadlines for the reviews have been choosing for me lately. The time of year is also a big factor in how I choose because once September rolls around, I kick into a gear where I only wanna read horror & mystery and that won't stop until Halloween and by then I am ready for Winter and Christmas themed reads.

Tell Me Something Tuesday: How Do You Read?

That's What I'm Talking About 's Tell Me Something Tuesday   is a weekly discussion post where bloggers discuss a wide range of topics from books and blogging to life in general.  June 3rd: Paper, electronic, audio… How do you read? Has it changed in recent years? This year I sit at 75% of the books I read being physical copies and 25% being electronic which is slightly higher than normal for me - my all time stats have ebooks making up only 18% of my total reading, I think I have been on the rise this year because I have gotten into applying for and reading ARCs. I have tried multiple times to get into audiobooks but I get distracted too easily for them. Last year I got back into going to the library and 35% of the books I have read this year have come from there instead of from my own collection of unread books.

Tell Me Something Tuesday: New To Me Authors

  That's What I'm Talking About 's Tell Me Something Tuesday   is a weekly discussion post where bloggers discuss a wide range of topics from books and blogging to life in general.  June 10th: New to me authors: who have you discovered in the past year? I have discovered so many authors that I love in the past year! I made myself pick my top five though to keep this post from ending up too long. 1. Rebecca Ross - After ages of putting it off because I was worried it would be overhyped, I read Divine Rivals in July of last year and I immediately fell in love with her writing. She has a way with words that is so whimsical. I love the worlds and characters that she creates. I have read two more of her books since Divine Rivals and have loved every single one. I really need to focus on catching up on her backlist. 2.A.B. Poranek - I discovered this author through their debut novel, Where the Dark Stands Still. Their writing is also whimsical - the world in this book was beaut...
