Welcome to First Line Friday! This is a weekly feature hosted by Carrie at Reading Is My Superpower. The idea is very simple: you just share the first line (or lines) of the book you are currently reading.
"The transformation occurred at approximately 2:23 AM, Pacific Standard Time. As far as I could tell, anyone who was indoors when it happened died instantly."

"Donut!" I cried, "What the hell happened to my cat?"
(don't worry, the cat is 100% okay)
Synopsis:
You know what’s worse than breaking up with your girlfriend? Being stuck with her prize-winning show cat. And you know what’s worse than that? An alien invasion, the destruction of all man-made structures on Earth, and the systematic exploitation of all the survivors for a sadistic intergalactic game show. That’s what.
Join Coast Guard vet Carl and his ex-girlfriend’s cat, Princess Donut, as they try to survive the end of the world—or just get to the next level—in a video game–like, trap-filled fantasy dungeon. A dungeon that’s actually the set of a reality television show with countless viewers across the galaxy. Exploding goblins. Magical potions. Deadly, drug-dealing llamas. This ain’t your ordinary game show.
Welcome, Crawler. Welcome to the Dungeon. Survival is optional. Keeping the viewers entertained is not.
My daughter, with my permission purchased this book on my Audible Account. When I asked her if I should listen to it, she said she's pretty sure I'd be offended by it. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteI am only 150 pages in and while there was 1 moment that horrified me, I haven't run into anything that I found offensive or that I think others would find offensive.
DeleteWell, this sounds quite interesting!
ReplyDeleteWould you consider this good for a solid laugh? Or more Hunger Games-ish? I'm intrigued...
ReplyDeleteI am only 150 pages in and it has had some funny moments but it is a very serious at times too if that makes sense.
DeleteI've had this book on my tbr for over a year now, but it pops up everywhere at the moment. maybe I should take this as a sign and finally read it (or listen, since I also got the audiobook when it was on sale). thanks for bringing it back in my orbit!
ReplyDeleteI've heard that the audiobook is amazing!
DeleteColor me curious. LOL I need to try this.
ReplyDeleteI recommend it! It's unlike anything I have ever read before.
DeleteThat first line definitely had me intrigued from the beginning :)
