Sunday Post/Salon #3

The Sunday Post is a blog news meme hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on your blog for the week ahead. Join in weekly, bi-weekly or for a monthly wrap up.

The Sunday Salon (hosted by ReaderBuzz) is a place to link up and share what we have been doing during the week. It's a great opportunity to visit other blogs and join in the conversations going on there.

What I Did:

Outside of my day job, I had a fairly slow week. Monday was for grocery shopping and recycling all my bottles and cans. Tuesday, DnD got cancelled but a couple of us still got together to play a video game - PEAK for anyone that is into that kind of thing and it was nice because Tuesday was my dad's birthday -and it's a tough one because I am almost the same age that he was when I was born so I am catching up to him in age - so I needed the push to be social so I didn't spend too much time being sad. Wednesday, I took my weekly trip to my local library and checked out Love Is A War Song (an indigenous cowboy x pop star romance) by Danica Nava. Saturday, I mostly read and then played video games with some other friends. Today, I am heading to an 80% off moving sale at a local comics & graphic novels store and then I am going to head to Silent Book Club after that.

What I Read:

I started and finished Love Letters From Her Cowboy by Sasha Summers - a very sweet and soft cowboy romance. I started and finished Love Utley by SJ Tilley. I started and finished The Princess and The Grilled Cheese Sandwich - a graphic novel. I also finished by reread of Iron Widow and I will be starting the sequel, Heavenly Tyrant soon. I finished an ARC of Chapel At Enders Ridge by Beckett Kane (see below for the link to the review). I finished an audiobook for the first time ever, it was With Any Luck by Ashley Poston - it was only an hour and 11 minutes long but normally audiobooks don't hold my attention for very long so this one was the perfect length. Finally, I started 2 ARC's - Jeweler To The Blessed by Jillian Witt and Better Than Gelato by Libby Tanner.

Reading Goals Update:

I didn't make any progress on my alphabet challenge this week.

  1. Sorry your D&D time got cancelled! :( It sounds like you have some fun plans today, though. My bookish plan today is to pick up a library book. :-)

  2. It's good you found a way to distract yourself on your dad's birthday. And I've only gone one time to the Silent Book Club, but I would love to go again. Hope you are able to get in some reading today!

  4. I love the idea of a silent book club! I enjoyed Love is a War Song, so I hope you like it as well. those birthdays are rough, I get that for sure. It helps to have something to distract so you don't sit and let those thoughts overtake you. I hope you have a good week, thanks for visiting me at Lisa Loves Literature!

  5. It's hard when you pass your parent in age when they're gone. I did that a while back now with my mom. Hope you can reflect on the good times together to distract from the loss! I'll look into that Ashley Poston novella. I love audiobooks!

  6. *HUGS* I was gone most of the week and I'm still trying to catch up. This coming week will be busy because my daughter moves back to college in a week - I will not be sad! I will need to carve out some time to read.
