Review: Toxic by Nicole Blanchard

I don't know what Nicole Blanchard put into this book but it's addicting. I highly recommend checking out to the trigger warnings before reading though.

I liked the forbidden aspect of this a lot which is what made it so addicting to me. Tessa is a nurse at a prison and Gracin is an inmate there so absolutely nothing should be developing between them, but the tension was so good. It even gets kicked up a notch with her husband being the warden of the prison they are both at. Another reason that I really liked this book is that last year I read Pen Pal by JT Gessinger which says it is about a woman become pen pals with a dangerous former inmate and I won't give too much information about the plot but that's not what it ends up being about so this book gave me what Pen Pal failed to give me.

Tessa's husband is the WORST. I spent the entire first half of the book wanting Tessa or Gracin to get rid of him - I briefly thought about why Tessa would put up with what she did for as long as she did, but the girl had no support system and no one to be there for her if she left her more powerful than her husband.

The second half of this book are when things get crazy. I had no problem reading any of the topics that were discussed but I really wish we had gotten more development for the relationship of Tessa and Gracin like not enough time passed with them being around each other for me to fully feel the love that they were declaring.

Overall, this book is action packed and fast paced, and I recommend it if you are looking for something dark and twisty.

Synopsis:
My life has been a series of bad decisions.

Marrying an abusive man was the first... but falling for a dangerous inmate where I’m a nurse may be the worst.

He’s brutal, heartless, and twisted.

But he’s also the only one to notice the bruises on my skin.

His forbidden touch becomes my addiction.

His drugging kisses my obsession.

After I learn the truth about why he’s in prison, I try to escape, but but he finds me.

Now I'm his prisoner.
