That's What I'm Talking About's Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post where bloggers discuss a wide range of topics from books and blogging to life in general.
June 10th: New to me authors: who have you discovered in the past year?
I have discovered so many authors that I love in the past year! I made myself pick my top five though to keep this post from ending up too long.
1. Rebecca Ross - After ages of putting it off because I was worried it would be overhyped, I read Divine Rivals in July of last year and I immediately fell in love with her writing. She has a way with words that is so whimsical. I love the worlds and characters that she creates. I have read two more of her books since Divine Rivals and have loved every single one. I really need to focus on catching up on her backlist.
2.A.B. Poranek - I discovered this author through their debut novel, Where the Dark Stands Still. Their writing is also whimsical - the world in this book was beautiful and the characters were wonderful and imperfect. I have an ARC of their 2nd book that I am about to start but I know they are already an auto buy author for me.
3. Heather McCollum / Eleri Drake - I discovered Heather at Coastal Magic Convention this past February and I really liked her personality and the way she spoke about her books. So far, I have only read one of her books written under her pen name (she uses a pen name to keep her Fantasy books seperate from her non-magic Historical Fiction) but I loved Prophecy and I have already bought the sequel and I have already bought a couple of her historical fiction novels to read in the future.
4. M.A. Grant - another author that I discovered through Coastal Magic Convention. MA Grant was one of my featured authors last fall and I recently read the first two books in her Whitethorn Agency trilogy and loved them. MA is super cool - I ended up having dinner with her during Coastal Magic and we chatted a bunch. I can't wait to finish Whitethorn Agency and to read her other trilogy.
5. Bailey Hannah - it's no secret that I am a cowboy romance fan. I finally checked out Bailey Hannah's Alive and Wells earlier this year and loved it. I liked the characters a lot and I can't wait to check out more of her books.
Divine Rivals is on my wish list!
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend! One of my all time favorite books honestly.
DeleteOh, I met a lot of great authors at Coastal Magic, and I bought lots of books, but I haven't had the chance to read them yet. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteThis is my first year giving the reading challenge a shot and I'm very determined to get to my backlist of coastal magic authors.
DeleteRoss is one I want to try. Glad to hear you loved Divine Rivals.
