I really love reading monster romances and I recently binged a bunch of them and thought it would be fun to do mini reviews of the ones that I enjoyed the most.
Romancing Her Yeti by Neva Post | 3.5 Stars
I really enjoyed this novella! We follow Rosa as her work project with the mysterious Tseten is abruptly ended. She realizes then how much their weekly voice chats have begun to mean to her and she is determined to keep the connection going. Meanwhile, Tseten also wants to continue speaking with Rosa but he's holding a big secret - he's a Yeti! I enjoyed the connection that developed between the two of them through just weekly voice chats and how neither of them realized how much it meant until it was taken from them. I liked the lengths that Rosa went to have a reason to reach out to Tseten outside of work, the girl was not messing around. I enjoyed how their phone dates went and how they talked each other through the phone calls. This is a prequel novella so it ends before Tseten reveals his secret and before they actually meet in person but it did it's job as I am interested in reading the series and experiencing Tseten's Yeti friends falling in love.

Mail-Order Minotaur by Lilith Stone | 3 Stars
In this novella, we follow Ivy - a reserved human tour guide as she tries to bring new life to her boring tour and Bryn - a minotaur that runs a minotaur escort service. After her first attempt at shaking up the tour leads to Bryn tending to her wounds, she turns to him to be her guide to the seedier parts of town. The two quickly realize they are fated mates. I liked the world that this author created and how it set up for there to be a whole series of different monsters falling in love. I found myself not as interested in the story once Bryn and Ivy started hooking up and I can't quite put my finger on why. I did like the twist with Ivy's family - it was very funny.
How To Slay a Dragon by Mallory Dunlin | 3.5 Stars
This novella is so fun! We have a badass Dragon Slay FMC and a whiny, kind of pathetic (I mean this in a good way - I liked it) half-dragon MMC. Our FMC Hui-Seun expects an easy hunt for a dragon but finds herself chained to a wall by MMC Nazaro after he catches her hunting for him. I liked the way they went from dislike to friends to something more even as the captor vs captive dynamic remained. I liked that Hui-Seun was able to get away from being captive on her own terms and I liked that it was her decision to come back to him. Despite this being a short novella, the worldbuilding was excellent and I learned that I really need to check out more from this author. I can't finish this review without mentioning the cover, that art is fire!
