Mini Reviews: Graphic Novels

I have gotten super into Graphic Novels this year, so I wanted to do mini reviews for some that I have read. Have you read any of these? Let me know in the comments.

I Shall Never Fall in Love
4 Stars

This graphic novel is lovely. I liked the diversity amongst the characters and the way that the main character was not perfect, she had to learn a lot, and she needed to grow as a person to get her happy ending. I liked that her friends held her accountable. The art style is also a huge plus for this one, it's cozy and cute.

Chef's Kiss: Deluxe Edition
4 Stars

A very fun read! I enjoyed the art style a lot. I liked the characters as well, it's another where they are growing as people and they are finding themselves. I liked how Ben finished college but struggled to find a job within his field - it was so relateable and realistic. I liked when him and his friends finally stuck up to his parents and I liked how he found his place in the kitchen.

Archival Quality
3 Stars

My least favorite of this bunch. The pacing felt off to me - choppy is a word I would use to describe it. I also thought this would be sapphic based on the cover but it definitely was not. I like the art style though - it's very unique when compared to others.

The Baker and The Bard
3.5 Stars

Honestly, everything about it is lovely. The characters are diverse, the art is so pretty and the plotline was fun.

The Tea Dragon Society
4 Stars

I want to live inside of this world.

Fence Vol 1-3
3.8 Stars (average of what I rated each one)

These graphic novels are fun! I really like the art style, and the characters are diverse and interesting. I now know more about Fencing than I will ever need to know in my life.

Taproot
3.5 Stars

This graphic novel is so cute! I really enjoyed the art style and all of the characters. There was a part where the jump confused me, and I had to go back a few pages to check that I hadn't somehow missed anything and that is why this wasn't a 4-star read.

The Girl From The Sea
4 Stars

Lovely! I like the characters, the art style, the way Morgan is discovering herself and the rift that causes with her friends. I need to check out more of this author.

Squad
4 Stars

Probably my favorite of this bunch. This sapphic werewolf graphic novel was very campy and very fun. I loved the art style and I liked how parts of it felt like a cheesy 80s movie. The side romance plot near the end was also very cute and had me grinning.

The Prince and the Dressmaker
3 Stars

This was cute. I enjoyed the art style and the way that the prince's dad showed up for him at the end.

My Boyfriend Is A Bear
3 Stars

Honestly, just a silly fun read which we all need sometimes.

The Princess and the Grilled Cheese Sandwich
3 Stars

Another at the bottom of the list if I were to rank them all in order. I think I got too stuck on when this was trying to take place like they dress like it's historical, but they were playing on Nintendo switches? They were sending letters to communicate and to invite to events when they clearly had technology that they could have been using to instant message. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't gotten caught up on that.
