Mini Reviews: Reading Books That Have Been on My GoodReads "To Read" Shelf the Longest

My GoodReads 'To Read' Shelf is kind of a beast at 633 books so I thought it would be fun to challenge myself to read the books that had been on the list the longest. I was able to get all of the books from my local library and I had fun reading them.

  • Review: Bittersweet is the best way to describe reading this book. It takes place on the titanic and we all know how that ends but it was so hard not to like these characters. They were all so unique and fun. I spent the book so torn between Val and her twin brother - she has ideals left from their father and he has become more hardened by life. Despite knowing that the book would end in a disaster, it still managed to shock me and make me even sadder.

Galatea by Madeline Miller

  • Review: I had a love hate feeling towards this. It was a fun read of a myth I had never heard before, but it was not what I expected from Madeline Miller. The writing felt more modern and honestly less poetic than her other work. I do support women's wrongs though, so I was cheering on Galatea at the end.

Taproot by Keezy Young

  • Review: This graphic novel was super cute - I enjoyed the art style a lot and it's a very cool concept. I did think the pacing was off a little bit and there was a part where things jumped ahead in a way that had me double checking to make sure that I hadn't skipped a page or two.
